Bronzed Beauty: Self-Tanner Review

Now that bikini season (and warm weather, hopefully) is approaching, it’s time to get your glow on — the safe way. My favorite self-tanner is this bronzing mousse from St. Tropez. I find it super easy to use – just make sure to use the bronzing mitt so your hands don’t turn brown! If you don’t have a mitt, I use a shower cap to apply the mousse.

To apply, make sure you exfoliate in the shower first, taking extra care of your elbows and knees. Then, apply your regular body lotion to moisturize. Wait until it has been absorbed, and then use the St. Tropez miracle. I like to use lotion beforehand so I don’t go TOO overboard on the self-tanner; it prevents any major streaking issues. To start bronzing, do certain sections of your body at a time. I like to start with my legs and work up so I don’t mess up my arms while trying to reach down to tan my feet. I typically use 1-2 pumps of the mousse for each arm/shoulder, and about 3 for my legs. Start with a small amount and work up to the level of bronzed-goddessness you would like to be. 🙂 I buff it on in circles and rub in until it’s absorbed. Make sure to do a double check for streaks before moving on to the next section. And move fast – this stuff will dry in about 60 seconds!

A few tips…You can dress after you apply, but I recommend avoiding any light colors. Also, the instructions say to wait several hours before sweating or showering, so I typically do this process in the evening after my shower. By the time you wake up and shower in the morning, you will be glowing. The picture below is from my birthday last summer – I used my St. Tropez mousse to give my summer tan a major boost. And for those interested – both of the dresses below are from Forever 21. I got the black leather one on sale for 20 bucks!

  • St. Tropez is definitely my favorite too 🙂 I’ve tried so many products and it’s the only one that really works. Although I do still need to try out the revamped Jergens – it’s on my list 🙂

  • Love this idea for a blog Marissa!

    My favorite is… http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?skuId=2094699&productId=fs1016576&navAction=push&navCount=1&categoryId=cat90022?cmpid=PSGO&CAWELAID=772013374&catargetid=1929399233&cadevice=c&cagpspn=pla

Its the L’Oreal Sublime Bronze in Deep. I am a self described tanning addict– regular tanning, self tanning, any tanning. I have tried literally every product under the sun and I keep coming back to this one mainly because I feel like its the best value for the price. Its pretty cheap and you can find it at most major drug stores.

Side note– Ive also used the walgreens brand spray tanning and once you get the hang of it its even better for the price– but as Im sure self tanner users are aware– it can get blotchy very quickly so use with caution!

Amazing blog! Do you have any helpful hints for aspiring writers? I’m planning to start my own blog soon but I’m a little lost on everything. Would you recommend starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many choices out there that I’m completely overwhelmed .. Any tips? Appreciate it!
